I worked mostly with Photoshop painting out my pictures, creating brushes and testing different blends. I made 4 hair brushes to create the effect of real hair, I used eyelashes which I had to warp to fit my character's eyes, and I added texture to the rock on the back cover by using a texture stamp and adjusting brush settings. I customized my desktop to fit my workflow and organized my growing supply of brushes.
I used this cover photo in Illustrator and gained experience with the pen tool and the black and white arrows to adjust lines. In the end, though I didn't use anything in Illustrator in my final project. I traced the edges of my dress and tried to use the pen tool to outline the shadowing of the arm of her outfit, and my layers shifted all over the place. When I did line up everything correctly, I found that it looked too unnatural and I didn't like it after all.
With Indesign, I was able to wireframe out my layout for the CD booklet. I used an Adobe font called Trojan Concept to make my letters seem embossed and gold. I added all of my pictures to the boxes by using the "Place" command and lowered their opacity. I made sure my text frames had no backgrounds so you would still see my artwork in the background. I connected all of my textboxes by clicking the overflow link and dropping them into the next text box.
Overall, there were many things I struggled with in this project, but after pushing myself to get through the problems, I can now feel more confident in using these programs. I had fun and some of the work I found that I lost track of time while working on them.
