I like simple, clean lines, but I wanted to exhibit the beauty of the sea with the ocean surface visible. Having the sea turtle as the focus and the manta ray to draw your eye to the surface I added the starfish to express the sense of floating. The coral grounds the ocean bottom, and the silhouette of the fish to the left show the depth of the sea.
I do like how it came together, but I had to stop working on it because the more I added, the more I took away. I was making it worse then it was before. I guess there is a point when you must stop and just be finished with it.
Suggestions from family members:
- My husband told me that having the fish that I worked on so hard was unnecessary, and I did remove them.
- My son told me to remove the drop shadow from my turtle because it made it look like it was hovering over my picture.
- My daughter told me the lighting was off with the surface of the ocean being bright and the coral being lit up but the turtle not being shown in the same light. I changed the light source by using a filter to enhance the light and direct it correctly.
